A new chapter for the city – “The Loop” launches as an urban district of the future
The next stage of development for “The Loop” will see an urban district of the future created in Oberhausen, covering around 120,000 square meters and comprising approximately 1,500 new apartments. The low-traffic district combines living, working, leisure, and sustainable mobility and is aimed at a diverse range of target groups with different building typologies.
At its heart is the approximately 15,000-square-meter “Stahlwerkspark”(steelworks park), a blue-green public green space with a high quality of life and direct access to footpaths and cycle paths. In terms of infrastructure, the district will be strengthened by the “Bypass Lipperfeld” and the redesign of tram line 105, which is intended to create a direct public transport connection between Essen and Oberhausen.
The neighborhood of the future With the residential development, the Stahlwerkspark, and the further development of the transport infrastructure, The Loop in Oberhausen is creating an urban neighborhood that combines ecological quality, social diversity, and modern mobility. The new neighborhood represents a contemporary understanding of the city: connected, green, livable – and ready for the demands of a growing region.
